The one-off deliveries of NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine are primarily aimed at testing these systems in combat conditions, military expert Aleksey Leonkov said in an interview with RIA Novosti on October 26.
Thus, according to the expert, such air defense systems can work as part of an automated system in conjunction with reconnaissance means and a command post.
Thus, the complex can “close” the space above an important military or infrastructure object, and two such complexes, according to Leonkov, are able to “close” the sky over an entire city.
Eventually, according to Aleksey Leonkov, successful testing of complexes in real conditions will allow Washington to create an echeloned air defense system of any objects.
NASAMS air defense systems were created by Americans together with specialists from Norwegian Air Force. According to public sources, the range of the last modification of the complex, depending on the type of missiles is from 20 to 180 km.
