If North Korea conducts a new nuclear weapon test, the United States is prepared to deploy strategic nuclear forces near the Korean peninsula, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev said during consultations of high representatives of Russia and ASEAN member states held via video conference, the press service of the Russian Security Council office reported on August 22.
“If the North Koreans conduct a new nuclear weapons test, Washington is preparing to deploy strategic nuclear forces near the Korean Peninsula, which will lead to further degradation of the situation in the region,” he said.
Earlier, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un Kim Yo-jong rejected the South Korean leader’s “bold plan” to improve North Korea’s economy in exchange for denuclearization. She called the idea “brazen” and assured that she would not deal with them.
