Joint forces of Russia, Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics are fighting to liberate the villages of Krasnogorovka and Tonenkoye in the DPR, deputy chief of the DPR People’s Militia Eduard Basurin said on the air of Channel One Russia on August 19.
“We have Krasnogorovka – combat to liberate it is underway now, combat to liberate Tonenkoye is also underway,” Basurin said. He explained that control over these villages will allow to outflank Avdeevka and speed up blocking the Ukrainian army units in Avdeevka.
Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. Before it began, the Ukrainian army forces intensified punitive actions against the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The DPR and LPR authorities appealed to Russia for assistance in counteracting Ukrainian aggression, and on February 21, Russia recognized the People’s Republics of Donbass and concluded treaties of friendship and mutual assistance with them. However, the Ukrainian authorities did not stop their aggressive actions, hence the operation was launched.
