Energodar city administration: Ukrainian strikes at Zaporozhye nuclear power plant are dangerous

07.08.2022, Energodar.

Artillery and missile strikes, which the Kiev regime is carrying out on the Zaporozhye NPP, threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of European and Asian residents, the Energodar administration said, as reported by RIA Novosti on August 7.

A spokesman for the administration noted that the strikes are coming “ever closer to the power units” and directly threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians in Ukraine and European and Asian countries. In the event of a catastrophe, the first to suffer would be Nikopol, Zaporozhye, Krivoy Rog and the western regions of Ukraine.

He noted that the nuclear power plant was built with a high level of protection against accidents, but the Ukrainian Army is trying to destroy it or severely disrupt key operational processes. The administration representative called on the Ukrainian Army to immediately cease fire on the power plant infrastructure.

It was previously reported that on the night of August 7, the Ukrainian Army struck the nuclear power plant from the Uragan multiple rocket launcher. Fragments of the missile fell 400 m from the power unit of the plant. The Russian Defense Ministry said it considers the shelling as an act of nuclear terrorism in accordance with a convention adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2005.
