The Ukrainian armed units retreated from their positions on strategic heights near Artemovsk (Bakhmut), Assistant to the LPR Interior Minister Vitaliy Kiselev said on August 6.
According to him, the troops withdrew to the city, but the reasons for the retreat are unknown.
“Most of the trenches are intact and the Ukrainian army could defend here for quite some time,” Kiselev added.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a press release on August 4 that several Ukrainian army units had lost combat effectiveness and left positions in the Avdeevka, Artemovsk and Soledar areas.
