Poland has used “soft power” to secure control over part of Ukraine. Opinion

Poland is making good use of “soft power” to seize Western Ukraine, Rossa Primavera News Agency‘s observer Pyotr Nikolaev said on July 14.

He recalled that in the 21st century, in order to control the territory of another state, it is not necessary to officially annex it. The economic, cultural and political expansion of Poland plays an important role.

“Western countries, including Warsaw, officially speak in support of the alleged territorial integrity of Ukraine, but they say nothing about its sovereignty. Poland makes good use of ‘soft power’ to seize the remnants of the Ukrainian state during or after the conflict with Russia,” the observer noted.

In his view, Poland’s soft power in Ukraine is expressed in various ways.

“Poland’s financial capital, through the Pekao bank and the PZU insurance company, owns an impressive share of Ukraine’s economy, and Polish citizens will be soon given equal rights with local residents,” Nikolaev said. “Thanks to the new law, Ukrainians will soon have an opportunity to see Poles as judges, policemen and officials. Poland has already ensured its control over a part of Ukraine de facto”.

On July 14, political analyst Aleksandr Asafov rejected the concept that Poland, Hungary and Romania are preparing to seize parts of Western Ukraine after the latter’s defeat during Russia’s special military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine.

According to the expert, the concept of Ukraine’s territorial integrity will not allow the surrounding states to change the existing borders.
