Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reports to Putin on the liberation of the LPR

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the liberation of the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic, this follows from a ministry’s press release published on July 3.

“Today, July 3, 2022, Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General S. K. Shoigu reported to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin about the liberation of the Lugansk People’s Republic,” the press release reads.

On July 2, the forces of the allied Russian Armed Forces and the LPR People’s Militia encircled Lisichansk. It was the last city in the Lugansk People’s Republic that was under the control of Ukrainian military. It is reported that 182 square kilometers of territory have been liberated in the last 24 hours.

On February 24, in response to a request for assistance from the heads of the DPR and LPR, Russia launched a special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that its purpose was “to protect people who have been subjected to persecution, genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.”

At the end of the special operation, it is planned to bring to trial all war criminals responsible for “bloody crimes against civilians” in Donbass.

The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly stated that during the special operation, the Russian Armed Forces strike military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops only.

The DPR and LPR People’s Militias, supported by the Russian Armed Forces, are liberating the occupied cities of the republics.
