The taking the city of Slavyansk under control by the joint forces of Russia and the republics of Donbass will mean that the group of the punitive forces in Donbass is totally encircled, said Assistant to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the DPR Vitaly Kiselyov on June 28, the Donetsk News Agency reported on June 29.
Kiselev explained that the city of Slavyansk is located on a dominant terrain. “Kramatorsk is below Slavyansk, it is in a valley,” Kiselev said, “So, from Slavyansk we will see everything up to Artemovsk, through this whole triangle to Lisichansk.”
This is why, he believes, “taking Slavyansk will mean total encirclement,” and after Slavyansk is taken the allied forces will be able to report that they control “every meter of our land.” According to previous reports, the Lugansk People’s Republic has taken 98% of its territory under control, and the Donetsk People’s Republic about 60%.
