Head of the French humanitarian association Save the Children of Donbass Emmanuel Leroy said that the Ukrainian military and militants are using civilians of the country during their actions against Russian troops, the REGNUM news agency reported on May 14.
According to him, cities such as Volnovakha have been destroyed by almost 80%. The employees of the association were able to see this for themselves when they visited Donbass, Leroy noted.
However, all local residents explain this by the fact that militants of Ukrainian nationalist battalions and Ukrainian army fighters seize residential houses and use civilians as a human shield, not letting them out of their houses and continuing military actions, the head of the French humanitarian mission stressed.
Earlier, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya, reported mass cases of Ukrainian nationalists using Ukrainian civilians as hostages and human shields back in late February, the first days of the Russian special operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.
