Russia’s soldiers of different ethnicities sacrifice themselves like brothers do when shielding each other from bullets and shrapnel in the battle, said Russian President Vladimir Putin in his speech at the Victory Day military parade in Moscow on May 9, 2022.
“Today, our warriors of different ethnicities are fighting together, shielding each other from bullets and shrapnel like brothers. This is where the power of Russia lies, a great invincible power of our united multi-ethnic nation. You are defending today what your fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers fought for. The wellbeing and security of their Motherland was their top priority in life,” said the President.
According to him, those who defeated Nazism during the Great Patriotic War showed an example of heroism to current and future generations.
This year marks the 77th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. More than 200 events dedicated to this holiday have been organized in Moscow. 11,000 people and 131 military equipment units took part in the Victory Parade. The air part of the Victory parade was canceled due to the weather.
