Kurginyan: Russia has withstood the blow of western sanctions

22.04.2022, Moscow.

The Russian economy has successfully withstood the blow of western sanctions, said political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on The Great Game program on Channel One on April 18.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin’s assessments of the Russian economy are right, and they inspire optimism, Kurginyan said.

“It seemed that this machine could be broken, with empty grocery shelves, the dollar trading 200 rubles… But this did not happen, the system has remained stable,” Kurginyan explained.

However, for the sake of completeness, we need an answer to the question why for a long time Russia relied on a raw-materials model of economy, the expert noted.

“Why for a long time did they keep saying that we could just sell raw materials and buy all the rest? Now this turns out to be a mistake,” the expert stressed.

Now we need to understand how and when Russia will restore an autarchy, a self-sustaining economy, the leader of Essence of Time noted. To this end, certain sectors have to be specified, and the schedule of their reconstruction has to be proposed.

“We understand that this cannot be reconstructed quickly in the usual, functional mode of governance,” Kurginyan concluded.
