Putin: The ‘blitzkrieg’ of the West against Russia has failed

18.04.2022, Moscow.

Russia was able to withstand Western sanctions, and the attempt of Western countries to bring about the collapse of the Russian economy has failed, said Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 18, REGNUM News Agency reports.

“Obviously, the main negative factor for the economy recently has been additional sanctions pressure from Western countries,” said the Russian leader.

In their calculations, the West had sought to quickly undermine the economic situation in the country through stimulating the collapse of the banking system, as well as a large-scale shortage of goods, added Putin.

“But we can already confidently say that such a policy towards Russia has failed,” concluded Putin.

“The strategy of economic blitzkrieg has failed,” added the president

The president also noted that the sanctions affected the initiators themselves with noticeable consequences. Putin mentioned that there was a deterioration in economic indicators in the US and EU, where the standard of living had declined.

At the same time, Putin said that the situation in Russia is stabilizing.
