By financing the distribution of weapons to the civilian population of Ukraine, the European Union repeats the disastrous experience of the Third Reich. This is stated in a study published on April 15 in the newspaper Diario16 by former colonel of the General Staff of Switzerland, former strategic intelligence officer Jacques Baud. He served as Chief Policy Officer for UN Peacekeeping Operations.
The study is called ” The West Created Conditions for the Ukrainian Explosion.” The author examines the entire history of the conflict since the coup d’état of 2014 in Ukraine.
In cities such as Kharkov, Mariupol and Odessa, the Ukrainian defense is the responsibility of nationalists’ battalions. They know that the goal of Russia’s special military operation “denazification” is aimed primarily at them, Baud writes. The retired colonel notes that civilians are a problem for the attacker in a built-up area. That is why Russia seeks to create humanitarian corridors to clear cities of civilians and leave there only the militants of the Nazis to make it easier to fight them, Baud notes.
“Unlike them [Armed Forces of the Russian Federation], the militants of the nationalist battalions seek to prevent the evacuation of civilians from cities in order to deter the Russian military from hostilities. That is why they are reluctant to organize these corridors and do much to make Russia’s efforts unsuccessful: they use civilians as a human shield. The videos in which civilians trying to leave Mariupol are beaten by fighters of the Azov battalion (organization banned in Russia), of course, are carefully censored by the Western media,” writes the high-ranking Swiss military.
On Facebook (organization banned in Russia), the Azov group (organization banned in Russia) was assigned to the same category as the Islamic State (organization banned in Russia), and fell under the “policy of dangerous people and organizations” of this social network. Therefore, it was forbidden to glorify its activities, and posts favorable to this battalion were systematically forbidden.
On February 24, Facebook (organization banned in Russia) changed its policy and allowed positive publications about nationalists battalions. In the same vein, in March, Facebook in former Eastern Europe called for the killing of Russian soldiers and their leaders. “Values that inspire our leaders have reached this level,” Baud wrote.
“Our media have been promoting a romanticized image of the Ukrainian resistance. It is this image that has prompted the European Union to finance the distribution of weapons to civilians. As the chief UN peacekeeper, I dealt with the issue of the protection of civilians. We found that violence against civilians took place in very specific settings. In particular, when weapons abound, and command structures do not exist,” writes the retired colonel of the Swiss General Staff.
Baud notes that command structures are the essence of an army, they direct the use of force to achieve a certain goal. And by randomly arming civilians, as it is now happening in Ukraine, the EU is turning them into combatants, into potential targets.
“In addition, without command, without operational tasks, the distribution of weapons inevitably leads to settling scores, banditry and actions more deadly than effective. War becomes a matter of emotion. Force becomes violence,” Baud warns.
“The EU is repeating the disastrous experience of the Third Reich in the last hours of the battle for Berlin. The war must be left to the military, and when one side has lost, it must be recognized. And if there is resistance, it must be directed and structured. But we are doing the exact opposite: we are forcing citizens to come out and fight, and at the same time we are sanctioning calls to kill Russian soldiers and leaders,” the military said.
“Some intelligence agencies see this irresponsible decision as a way to use the Ukrainian population as cannon fodder to fight Russia. It would be better to negotiate and thereby obtain guarantees for the civilian population than to add fuel to the fire. It’s easy to fight by shedding someone else’s blood,” he stressed.
