Head of Donetsk People's Republic denies any civilian hostages at Azovstal plant

The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin has denied that the Ukrainian army keeps any civilians as hostages at the Azovstal plant, Rossiya 24 reported on April 4.

According to Pushilin, the information that the Ukrainian military keeps civilians at the Azovstal plant has not been confirmed.

“There is no proven information that any civilians are kept at Azovstal,” he said.

On February 24, President of Russia Vladimir Putin initiated a military special operation for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to Putin, the decision to initiate the special operation was made after a request for help from the leaders of the republics of Donbass.

On February 24, the Russian Ministry of Defense informed that the Russian Armed Forces attacked only military infrastructure and the Ukrainian army. The forces of the LPR and the DPR are advancing with the support of the Russian Armed Forces. Ukraine is not to be occupied, Putin stressed.
