Refugee from Mariupol tells how the nationalist battalions opened fire on a crowd of civilians

31.03.2022, Mariupol.

On March 18 in Mariupol, neo-Nazis from the Azov battalion (organization banned in Russia) shot a crowd of civilians who had come to the kindergarten building in search of water; many were killed. A refugee from the city Roman Postilnik told journalists about this on March 31.

The refugee said that on March 18, he and several other residents of Mariupol tried to leave the city, but they were stopped by the Ukrainian military, turned around under machine guns, and explained, “I am sitting here and you will sit here.” After that, Postilnik and his companions returned home and started looking for water and food. They found water in a kindergarten near Vladimirskaya Street 48.

“Literally 10 minutes later, a pickup truck with the members of Azov battalion (organization banned in the Russian Federation) drove up. They came out, click something on a tablet,” Postilnik said. As soon as the citizens entered the courtyard, the Nazis “completely shelled the kindergarden,” the refugee reported.

“Many peaceful people died. My neighbor’s leg was cut off by shrapnel, fractured her leg completely,” Postilnik said.

Military special operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine has been conducted by Russia since February 24 to protect Russian-speaking citizens from the genocide to which they have been subjected for several years. Nazis taking refuge in towns and cities are using civilians as hostages, in other words as human shields.
