Fighters of Ukrainian armed formations are trying to get out of Mariupol disguised as civilians, battalion commander of DPR forces Major Oleg Kokarev told RIA Novosti on March 23.
“They are trying under the guise of civilians to come out to our side in order to disappear somewhere and run away. They are often dressed in women’s clothing,” Kokarev said.
At the moment, the DPR and Russian Armed Forces are mopping up Mariupol from militants of the Azov Nazi group (organization banned in Russia).
Civilians are being evacuated from the city using humanitarian corridors created by the Russian military. Ukrainian forces regularly shell the civilians leaving the city.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.
