The Kherson region of Ukraine has been taken under full control of the Russian military during a special operation, Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said at a briefing on March 15.

“The armed forces of the Russian Federation have taken full control of the entire territory of the Kherson region,” Konashenkov said.

He also said that during the offensive, a group of DPR troops broke through the defenses of the Ukrainian nationalists and took control of the village of Panteleymonovka, thus reaching the Verkhnetoretskoye – Novoselovka-2 line.

On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that its goal was “to protect people who have been subjected to humiliation and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.”

The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly stated that the Russian Armed Forces only strike military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops, with no threat to civilians.

The DPR and LPR People’s Militias, with the support of the RF Armed Forces, are liberating the occupied cities of the republics. The Russian president stressed that the occupation of Ukraine was out of the question.
