The Ukrainian embassy in Turkey has already provided “verified information” that just under a hundred Turkish nationals are now in a certain “mosque in Mariupol under fire.”

Ukrainian social networks spread information that Zelensky allegedly demanded from the General Staff to organize a counterattack to unblock Mariupol. According to the authors, citing an anonymous source, military units on the Azov front will be redeployed for this purpose.

Ukraine

The geography of the air alert is reportedly expanding. Kiev, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Lvov, Krivoy Rog, Zaporozhzhye, Poltava, Ivano-Frankovsk, Uman, Volyn, Kiev, Kirovograd, Zakarpattye, Ternopol, Khmelnitsky, Rovno, Sumy, Chernovtsy, and Cherkasy regions simultaneously declared it overnight. Explosions are reported in Sumy.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi says that 2.5 million refugees have already left Ukraine.

Almost 94,000 people have left Ukraine in the past 24 hours. The number of those wishing to leave the country decreased for the second day in a row, the State Border Service said. On Friday morning, there were no queues to leave Ukraine at 16 of 22 checkpoints with neighboring countries.

A group of liaison officers from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine arrived in Lvov for the likely deployment of an emergency control point in western Ukraine. This is also evidenced by footage of massively abandoned Ukrainian army equipment with no signs of combat.

Western countries

UN World Food Program stated that it is working to minimize the knock-on effects of rising food and energy prices. “[As] hunger threatens Ukraine directly, the fallout from this war will spread across the globe. Russia and Ukraine together export about 30 percent of the world’s wheat,” said WFP Executive Director David Beasley. With Russia being such a huge player in the energy sector, inevitable prices hikes resulting from sanctions on its oil and gas will limit access to food for some of the most vulnerable people in the world, many of whom are already facing super-high inflation, according to the report.

Ukraine has requested air-defense missile systems S-300 from the West and there are talks about the possibility of their delivery, the Washington Post newspaper citing an unnamed European official. The source said some Eastern European countries have Buk and S-300 air defense systems, which the Ukrainian army knows how to use, but they are available in small quantities.

As the newspaper notes, United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is planning to travel to Brussels next week to meet with NATO allies and to Slovakia.
