Russian Federation Council demanded that Facebook be banned in Russia

11.03.2022, Moscow.

Facebook and Instagram should be banned in Russia. The Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Konstantin Kosachev stated this on March 11, the press service of the upper house of the Russian parliament informed.

After the company Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, lifted the ban on calls for violence against Russian citizens, the activities of these social networks in Russia should be banned, Kosachev believes.

“The masks have been thrown off. These platforms have never been neutral, and this is bad in itself because it kills the very idea of free social networks,” Kosachev said.

He added that the canceling of such bans is immoral and criminal.

“I consider it right to ban the activity of these networks in Russia. I am surprised that this ban is still not in effect that, alas, is not hard to make sure of,” Kosachev added.
