07.03.2022, Moscow.

The Ukrainian government, which has already lost hope for the support of the European Union, set the course for the maximum number of victims is taken, military expert and editor in chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko said in a commentary for Rossa Primavera News Agency on March 7.

“They are not counting on anything now. They are now focused on the maximum number of casualties in order to somehow force the West to intervene,” Korotchenko said.

The military expert notes that the Ukrainian authorities want to influence public opinion in European countries to influence EU governments.

“More victims, more destruction, more ruthless picture in live broadcasts. The Ukrainian government considers this the best way to achieve those goals and objectives for external military intervention in the events it provokes,” the expert said.

Korotchenko also believes that no humanitarian corridors will work, as they are not beneficial to the Kiev authorities.

“Ukraine will not allow them to be created. There will be provocations. The maximum number of victims is in the interests of the Kiev regime,” Korotchenko concluded.

Negotiations between Moscow and Kiev were held on February 28 and March 3 on the territory of Belarus. The third round of talks was scheduled for 7 March.

During the second round, an understanding was reached on the need to organize humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of Ukrainian residents and the delivery of necessary aid.

However, on March 7, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk said during a briefing that Kiev rejected the humanitarian corridors proposed by Russia. The Ukrainian representative said that the Russian corridors were unacceptable to Kiev.
