Source: Kiev has been developing a “dirty” bomb in the Chernobyl NPP zone

06.03.2022, Moscow.

Kiev authorities used the Chernobyl nuclear power plant zone to separate plutonium and create a “dirty atomic bomb,” an unnamed representative of a competent Russian agency said, RIA Novosti reported March 6.

“It should be specifically noted that the Chernobyl nuclear power plant area was used as a site for the development of nuclear weapons,” the source said. “According to available information, this is where work was done to produce a ‘dirty’ bomb and to separate plutonium. The increased radiation background naturally occurring in the Chernobyl zone concealed these operations.”

The source also said that scientists of universities and research institutes were involved in some of the project topics. In particular, these are the Odessa National Polytechnic University (modeling of kinetics of thermonuclear reactions), Kyiv National University and the Physical-technological Institute of Materials and Alloys of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Both institutions are engaged in fluid dynamics and continuum mechanics.
