The Ukrainian Air Force military airfield in Vinnitsa was destroyed by the Russian servicemen, Major General Igor Konashenkov, an official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, told reporters on March 6.
“On March 6, high-precision long-range weapons destroyed the airfield of the Ukrainian Air Force in Vinnitsa,” Konashenkov said. In addition, three Su-27 fighter jets and three drones were shot down in the air by the Russian Air Force’s aviation and Air Defense Forces.
A total of 11 combat aircraft and two helicopters of the Ukrainian Air Force were eliminated yesterday and for the part of today. “Practically all of the Kiev regime’s combat-ready aviation has been destroyed,” Konashenkov said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the LPR and DPR on February 21. On February 24, the president announced the start of a special Russian military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian Armed Forces were striking exclusively military infrastructure, air defense facilities, military airfields and aviation of Ukraine. The ministry stressed that civilians are not under any threat.
