Russian president’s spokesman: Sanctions are serious but Russia prepared in advance

26.02.2022, Moscow.

Although the anti-Russian sanctions are serious, they are predictable, and Russia prepared in advance, Russian president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on February 26.

“The sanctions are quite serious: several waves of sanctions over the past few days. Our preparation was serious and timely as well, they were basically predictable,” Peskov said.

He noted that an analysis of the situation is needed to suggest a response that would be optimal to the interests of Russia. Peskov assured that measures to minimize the damage from sanctions are taken without delay. Our country has all the necessary capabilities for this, he stressed.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said that relations with countries that imposed sanctions on Russia could be permanently revised.

In particular, he mentioned that “embassies can be closed using barn locks” and that we can look at each other through binoculars and combat optics.
