Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s appeal to civil servants, MPs and oligarchs to return to the country has shown that Ukraine’s real enemy is its elite, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova wrote on Telegram.
Zakharova recalled that Zelensky made an official address in which he called on the deputies, officials and oligarchs who left the country to return to defend their homeland. After that, she said, “it became clear that the enemy of this state was not Russia. The enemy of Ukraine is its ‘elite’.”
Zakharova pointed out that Zelensky called intimidation the statement of US President Joe Biden, in which he announced a specific date for the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In her opinion, this demonstrated that the USA was not a friend of Ukraine.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry also stressed that “everything became clear in general” after Zelensky said that he had all the intelligence information about the “aggressor” and declared the date that the USA announced as the date of the attack on Ukraine as the day of the unity of Ukraine and appointed celebrations on that day.
For several months now, the West has been regularly claiming that Russia is preparing an invasion of Ukraine. On February 12, US President Joe Biden even announced the date of the Russian aggression – February 16.
Russia has repeatedly denied accusations of its aggressiveness and pointed out that it has consistently defended a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian-Donbass conflict in accordance with the Minsk agreements. Despite this, the West continues its information campaign and promotes hysteria around Ukraine.
Fearing an escalation in Ukraine, many countries in recent days have called on their citizens to urgently leave the territory of Ukraine. In addition, some airlines have suspended flights to Ukraine and in its airspace.
On February 14, Zelensky said that Western countries were “stirring up the story of the war,” and that Ukraine had “scuffled” with them because of this. On February 15, the Ukrainian president issued a video address in which he gave officials and MPs who had left the country 24 hours to return.
