Political scientist calls the UK one of the flagships of anti-Russian policy

02.02.2022, Moscow.

The United Kingdom is one of the leading countries, which intensifies anti-Russian rhetoric, political scientist Yegor Dibrov said in commentary for Rossa Primavera News Agency on February 1.

Dibrov noted that the US and UK act together in the frameworks of the Anglo-Saxon bloc.

“The United Kingdom Britain is one of the leading countries, which increases anti-Russian rhetoric. This can be seen in the imposition of sanctions, and the pressure exerted on business elites, as well as the supply of weapons to Ukraine,” Dibrov said.

In addition, Dibrov noted that the supply of weapons to Ukraine has recently intensified, and information pressure on Russia has increased. Also, the USA and UK jointly send military instructors to Ukraine.

The political analyst pointed out that Russia would be able to stop these attempts only when it responds by strengthening its soft power policy in the former Soviet republics, as well as in bilateral relations with businesses of Western countries.

Western countries have been promoting in the information space the idea of an alleged Russian invasion of Ukraine. At the same time, Western countries themselves, especially NATO member states, have increased arms supplies to Ukraine.

The Russian side has repeatedly stated that these allegations are groundless. It was also noted that a provocation might be made to justify these statements.

The UK announced that it might impose new sanctions against Russia. Before that, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said it was necessary to introduce additional military contingents in the Baltics. Johnson also plans to visit Eastern European countries to discuss with the heads of state joint actions against Russia.
