Military expert assesses whether Donbass will be able to repel an attack by Ukrainian troops

20.11.2021, Moscow.

The armed forces of the Donbass republics will be able to repel an attack by Ukrainian troops. Lieutenant General of the Reserve, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force for the Common Air Defense System of the CIS member states Aitech Bizhev expressed this opinion to a Rossa Primavera News Agency’s correspondent on November 20.

“The troops of the DPR and LPR are in combat readiness and will be able to repel the enemy’s attack. There are constant provocations from the Ukrainian side, which are very cleverly suppressed. The troops of the people’s republics do not succumb to provocations,” Bizhev noted.

He also noted that Russia clearly adheres to the implementation of the Minsk agreements in Ukraine’s military conflict with the Donbass republics, as does Donbass. Ukraine, on the other hand, is looking for any opportunity to withdraw from these agreements, as it is being pushed to do so by the United States and the West in general, he added.

On November 20, the USA warned its allies in Europe about the need to develop measures to deter Russia from a possible attack on Ukraine. Economic and military measures were mentioned. This was reported by The New York Times, citing a warning from US intelligence agencies.

According to the newspaper’s sources, Russia has not yet decided what it will do with the servicemen who are allegedly grouped near the Ukrainian border.

In late October, the Ukrainian army occupied the village of Staromaryevka, which is located in the “grey zone,” with the support of the Bayraktar TB2 drone, which Turkey transferred to Ukraine.
