The purpose of the dismantling of the Soviet system and the shelling of the House of the Soviets by Yeltsin in 1993 to enrich a small group of people, said philosopher, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in his article “Ends and means. To the 28th anniversary of the shelling of the House of the Soviets” published on October 8 in the Essence of Time newspaper.
“In the days of October 1993, Yeltsin’s devastating nihilism, which was presented as pragmatism, had a transient ominous victory,” Kurginyan concluded.
The political scientist reminded that the Soviet system, the Soviet Union, was dismantled among speculation about its “totalitarianism” and criminal nature. In 1991, a system of “rule of law and democracy” replaced it, which was shelled using tanks in 1993. Why then was the Soviet system dismantled, he inquires.
“The answer became clear as early as one month after the shelling. The previous social order was dismantled for the most brutal forms of enrichment of a small group of people,” Kurginyan explained.
The dismantlement of the Soviet system was catastrophic for both the former republics of the Soviet Union and the world as a whole, the expert believes. Russia lost huge territories, lives of tens of million people were ruined, and the global geopolitical balance was lost.
Still, there are even worse consequences. “The world started going downhill as a result of the dismantlement of that slandered, demonized social system, which was stigmatized as nihilistic and brutal,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan concluded.
From September 21 to October 5, 1993, tragic events transpired, which are called differently: “the shelling of the Parliament,” “the shelling of the House of the Soviets,” “Black October,” “the October rebellion of 1993,” “Yeltsin’s coup d’etat of 1993.”
On September 21, 1993, the President of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltsin issued Order No. 1400 which dissolved the Congress of Peoples’ Deputies and the Supreme Soviet. The Constitutional Court acknowledged that this order violated the Constitution.
A nearly two-week long confrontation between Yeltsin and the Parliament ended with mass shooting of the defenders of the Supreme Soviet on October 3-5 near the Ostankino TV center and near the Parliament. According to official reports, at least 158 people were killed and 423 wounded.
