Under Hitler’s flag, almost whole Europe invaded the Soviet Union, doctor of historical sciences, professor Isay Kuzinets said to Rossa Primavera News Agency on June 22.
The professor stressed that the Soviet people fought against the greatest evil in the history of mankind, against Nazism, which was led by Germany and its allies. And the understanding of this has become “the classic alphabet” for the Russian people. However, there is an essential detail to remember in this story.
“Here is only one correction to what we always say publicly about it. We were not only at war with Nazi Germany, it was repeated as in the time of Napoleon. We were attacked, in fact, by all of Europe under Hitler’s flag. This is why they are singing with one voice today, trying to twist history, trying to deceive [everyone] by saying how innocent they are, that we exploited and conquered [them] and so on and so forth. In fact, we have fought against the common evil of the world,” the historian said.
According to the professor, in today’s world, the same situation is repeated, as in the thirties of the last century. At the same time, he noted that its complications are precisely due to the fact that it is too clearly visible who is who in world history.
Assessing the significance of the Day of Mourning and Remembrance, Kuzinets noted that, “Of course, victories were to follow, but the day the war began was a huge tragedy for our country, as a result of which our country was able to mobilize, was able to unite and win.”
