Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova called the West’s reaction to the emergency landing of Ryanair flight in Minsk shocking on May 24 on Facebook.
“It is shocking that the West calls the incident in Belarusian airspace ‘shocking’,” Zakharova wrote.
Zakharova noted that the former leading countries have lost their leadership qualities, so attempts of “civilized democracies” to act according to a formular “what is permissible for Jupiter may not be permissible for a bull” are no longer relevant. According to her, the stool from which Western demagogues preached has been knocked out from under them by the blood and suffering of millions around the world.
“Either everything should shock: from the forced landings in Austria of the plane of the Bolivian president at the request of the United States and in Ukraine after 11 minutes of takeoff of a Belarusian flight with an Antimaidan activist. Or similar behavior of others should not shock,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry wrote.
She noted that with the help of information and political campaigns in the media, the West will no longer be able to form the perception of the situation it needs, as all the facts are available online, when the very Western “guardians of order and moral guardians” carried out violent abductions, forced detentions and illegal arrests.
In 2013, the plane of Bolivian President Evo Morales was forced to land in Vienna. The reason for this incident was the assumption that former CIA agent Edward Snowden, whom the US accuses of divulging state secrets, was on board of the plane.
