The West does not condemn the attempt to assassinate the president of Belarus, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his address to the Federal Assembly on April 21.
According to him, the usual practice of political sanctions and attempts by some countries to dictate their will to others is degenerating into something dangerous.
” I am referring to the recently exposed direct interference in Belarus in an attempt to orchestrate a coup d’état and assassinate the President of that country,” the President said.
Putin noted that the West does condemn such actions, which the Russian President himself described as outrageous.
“Nobody seemed to notice. Everyone pretends nothing is happening,” Putin added.
According to him, one can think whatever he likes of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro or Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko whatever he wants. “But the practice of staging coups d’état and planning political assassinations, including those of high-ranking officials – well, this goes too far. This is beyond any limits,” the President stressed.
According to him, no one thought about how many people would suffer and how the fate of Belarus would turn out in case of a coup d’etat, just as no one thought about it during the coup in Ukraine.
