05.03.2021, Donetsk.

The Ukrainian army’s units violated the ceasefire on the front line in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) six times over the day, a DPR representative at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCCC) informed on March 5.

The JCCCC observers reported that the shelling began on March 4 at 7.52 a.m. (Moscow time zone). The military of the 58th Ukrainian army’s Brigade, which occupied Opytnoye village, shelled Spartak village using 120mm mortars and fired 8 mortar shells. At 5.10 p.m. (Moscow time zone), the military of the 36th Ukrainian army’s Marine Brigade, which occupied Vodyanoye village, shelled Leninskoye village.

Observers noted that the enemy continued to violate the ceasefire at 6.48 p.m. (Moscow time zone). The Ukrainian Army’s soldiers from the 35th Marine Brigade, who were stationed in Dzerzhinsk, opened fire on the village of the Gagarin coal mine in Gorlovka with small arms.

In the south of the republic, the military of the 36th Brigade opened fire on Leninskoye village three times at 6.10 p.m. (Moscow time zone), 7.05 p.m. (Moscow time zone), and 9.10 p.m. (Moscow time zone). The fire came from the direction of Vodyanoye village, and the enemy fired 5 120mm mortar shells and 3 SPG-9 anti-tank grenades.

The DPR representative specified that the Ukrainian military fired one Grad MLRS rocket from the 9P-132 Partizan multiple launch rocket system on the northern outskirts of Donetsk. The rocket damaged a residential multi-story building on Privokzalnaya Street 14. The blast wave and shrapnel damaged the building’s facade, balconies, and broke windows. Fortunately, no one was killed or injured.

The Minsk agreements stipulates that the parties to the conflict – Ukraine and the People’s Republics of Donbas – ban the use of all weapons with a calibre of 100 mm or more and withdraw them from the front line to store in special sites for inspections.

The monitors of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) every day report that freight trains with heavy military equipment, tanks and artillery are arriving at railway stations in the area of hostilities from the rare of the country.

On March 3, the JCCCC observers reported that the Ukrainian military shelled Veseloye village near former Donetsk airport and Leninskoye village in the south of the republic. The Ukrainian armed forces fired 108 82mm mortar shells.
