There are enough countries in the world that are ready to break free from the Western mainstream, but they need a strategic alternative, said political scientist, crisis analyst and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on January 24 on the air of the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov program on Russia One channel.
The fundamental lack of options is exactly the reason why many countries follow the path that the US offers, stressed the political scientist.
“There are many powerful countries which are not satisfied with the existing mainstream they are in, and they are in it only due to the lack of an alternative. For example, India will stay in the existing mainstream only until something promising comes along that it can jump into,” makes his point Kurginyan.
In the meantime, China is not an alternative to the West, while India would be ready to accept Russia as such, but Russia is not changing its tactics. Therefore, India and other powers choose to accept lucrative US proposals while disagreeing with the mainstream.
“And no one actually understands what Russia is saying strategically, while on the tactical level it sounds like – ‘this is bad, that is bad, our partners are bastards, and so on’. Where is the counter proposal? What is unacceptable in terms of a strategy? Is it, for example, the so-called digital ghettoization, as many now call it, or something else,” explained Kurginyan.
The reason why Russia is geopolitically weak is because it does not demonstrate its readiness to defend its global strategic goals and principles. “When a person, or a state sets a certain course based on the highest values, it is respected, it is an example to be followed,“ believes the analyst.
