Ukraine’s militarization became especially intense during the period that President Vladimir Zelensky has been in power, because he is especially capable of initiating uncontrolled hostilities, the leader of the Essence of Time movement and political scientist, expert on crisis spot processes Sergey Kurginyan said on the TK-Union YouTube channel.
Kurginyan pointed out that, in spite of the low level of military assistance that Kiev receives from Washington, Ukraine’s militarization is very rapid. This militarization has been especially intense during the last year and a half that Zelensky has been in power. According to the analyst, this can to lead hostilities because of peculiarities in the Ukrainian president’s personality, who is strongly dependent on public approval. If Zelensky loses Ukrainians’ support, he will act in an absolutely different manner, and he will dramatically change his policy, the analyst believes.
“Yes, theyaremilitarizing. Under whom are they militarizing? Under whom will this militarization unfold? With this clown, as I have been saying over the past year and a half. And it will be especially intense. This is exactly what is happening!” Kurginyan said.
“What else can he do? Do you still fail to see the grin of this madman after he loses his precious 70%, when he loses public approval? This comedian is shining as long as the public loves him, but once the public boos him, he will take a rifle and shoot the public!” the expert explained his view of the emotional life of this kind of a person.
Kurginyan stressed that Zelensky’s actions cannot be understood and predicted based on rational considerations.
“He is a very peculiar figure. You need political psychiatry to understand what is happening to Zelensky in Ukraine. This is beyond reasonable. A different approach is needed here,” the expert believes.
Zelensky insisted that 6% of Ukrainian GDP will be spent on defense in 2021. This will be the largest defense budget in the nation’s history. However, 2020 was a record in military expenses, too. Defense received 5.45% of GDP, which is 16% more than in 2019.
Ukraine is currently concentrating its military along the entire contact line between the Ukrainian army and the armies of the Donetsk and the Lugansk People’s Republics. According to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Ceasefire, and Ukrainian army has deployed almost 250 units of heavy weapons to the zone of hostilities. The DPR believes that an offensive is being prepared.
