The Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) began the development of a doctrine called “Russian Donbass”, the DPR leader Denis Pushilin said on December 13 during a public discussion on the consideration and adoption of the doctrine.
The DPR leader stated that the Donbass is the Brest Fortress of the Russian world, and it will never be surrendered.
“We need the ‘Russian Donbass‘ doctrine, which would reflect the main aspects of the cultural and historical development of the region, the worldview of the population, the mentality, the formation of the idea of statehood of the republic, it should become a manifesto, the basis of educational processes, decisions in the state planning,” Pushilin said.
He believes that the document “Russian Donbass” should become “the platform of the ideological structure of the republic.”
The military conflict in Donbass has been going on for more than six years. In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities began a punitive operation against the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which proclaimed independence after the coup d’etat in Kiev.
As a result of the armed conflict between Ukraine and the DPR, more than 13 thousand people were killed, more than 30 thousand people were wounded, and about 1.5 million people became internally displaced.
