Kurginyan: Only a messianic idea can save Russia in the 21st century

Russia cannot survive without its own civilization and its own messianic idea, said the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist Sergey Kurginyan on December 6 on the air of the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on Russia One channel.

“Russia has two main qualities,” stressed the political scientist. “it must bear its own civilization – its own way of life, its great expanse, and it must posses a certain messianic idea of its own.

He noted that Russia can fully flourish only if it goes its own way: “It [Russia] says: ‘This is how you do it, but we shall do it differently.’ As soon as Russia loses this ‘we shall do it differently’ and falls out of its own framework, ceases to be an empire – it suddenly becomes absolutely vulnerable.”

Also, rejecting the path of its own and following the way of others provokes opponents to attack, specified Sergey Kurginyan. “When it [Russia], furthermore, says all the time:’ Let me be like you, and let us make up one way or the other,‘ it provokes an attack.”

According to the political scientist, the more the Russian officials “act considerate” with the West and the more Russia betrays itself, the greater the danger of an attack from the West.

Russia cannot survive without a strategic project, noted Kurginyan. “The only one way to survive the failure of the Soviet Union was joining Europe on the very next day. The next day!” he noted.

After the collapse of the USSR, Russia abandoned its project but had not started another, stressed the political scientist. “Now it’s quite clear that no one wants to accept us, besides, we don’t want it ourselves anymore – since we learned so much about their perversions, their debauchery, their strange and bizzare things such as forced foster care and such. And what’s left? We fell out of our own sphere, and have not become a part of someone else’s.”

Currently, the only chance for Russia to survive is to have its own messianic project, which it also must offer to the world. “Now, they say: ‘Who needs a new mission?’ Well, a new mission is the only one thing that can save Russia in the 21st century, only it has to be reasonable, sound,” stressed the political scientist.

“When and if Russia will offer a different path for development, a different formula for life, then it may survive,” concluded Kurginyan.
