Ukrainian military shells DPR twice using banned weapons last night

The Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire twice over the last 24 hours at the southern segment of the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the DPR representative at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Ceasefire reported on December 3.

According to the representative, the Ukrainian servicemen from the 36th Brigade of the Ukrainian Navy shelled twice Leninskoye village at the Mariupol tactical direction on the night of December 2 to 3, firing 22 shells from 120-mm mortars.

The observers reported the beginning of the shelling at 01:45 AM (Moscow time zone) from positions at the Vodyanoye settlement. No casualties among the residents and DPR People’s Militia servicemen are reported. The Ukrainian servicemen failed to hit any vital infrastructure or residential buildings  in the settlement.

On December 2, the representative of the DPR Natalya Nikonorova and the representative of the LPR Vladislav Deynego spoke at the UN Security Council. The representatives of Ukraine, Germany, and France ignored their address and tried to block it.

The Arria formula Security Council meeting gathered representatives of 17 countries: China, Indonesia, Belarus, the Dominican Republic, Morocco, Egypt, India, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Viet Nam, Syria, South Africa, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vanuatu, Algeria, and Tunisia.

On December 1, the JCCC observers reported no incidents of shelling by the Ukrainian army.

Weapons with caliber 100 mm and larger are banned along the contact line by the Minsk agreements. Ukraine and the Donbass republics took on an obligation to withdraw the weapons to a safe distance from the contact line.
