The USA will never sacrifice its own interests for the sake of compliance with law, Associate Professor at Moscow State Institute of International Relations Andrey Bezrukov said on November 16 on the Vesti FM radio broadcast.
According to the expert, he has a feeling that the United States is not going to use the law much if it works against them. He thinks that in the USA, regardless of Biden or Trump, there is a consensus about what is good for Washington and what is bad.
“That consensus is obviously not a hundred percent certain. But roughly speaking it emerged following the strategy that if a competitor thinks too much about itself – I mean China – then you have to take him down a peg. And if the law suddenly interferes, so much the worse for the law,” Bezrukov concluded.
On November 5, Deputy Director of the Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Dmitry Suslov said that in the case of Joe Biden’s presidency, the trade war between Washington and Beijing can only slow down for a while. But then the confrontation between the two countries will certainly resume.
