Expert: Catholic Church loses its credibility in Poland

02.11.2020, Warsaw.

The Polish Catholic Church’s voice was quite and unpersuasive during the recent protests in Poland, said Andrzej Zybertowicz, adviser to the head of the Polish National Security Bureau and adviser to the President of Poland on social issues, on November 1 in an interview to TVP Info television news channel.

Zybertowicz made it clear that the massive pro-abortion protests which were joined by liberally minded youth and took place in Poland, one the most religious countries in Europe, clearly showed that the Catholic Church has largely lost its authority, which was significant during the times of Pope John Paul II.

“Polish Church hierarchs showed a lack of civic courage and buried their heads in the sand, confirming the painful thesis that the clergy’s authority is largely exhausted in the shadow of the great Polish pope,” said Zybertowicz.

Zybertowicz stressed that the liberal opposition in Poland, which organizes these protests, is pulling the country towards the bottom, and the liberal idea itself has become a bomb that is blowing the traditional society into pieces.

“Liberal democracy supporters emphasize that it is in crisis, that the West enters a disintegration phase, and that Polish progressives are willing to lead us onto a sinking ship,” said Zybertowicz.

On October 31, 2020, pro-abortion supporters have gathered in tens of thousands to protest on the streets of Warsaw. Organizers claimed that at least 100,000 people took to the streets.

Together with feminists, among those who took to the streets were COVID lockdown antagonists, and those who are against the bans on the coal industry, fur farming and “halal” meat production.
