Russia should become strategically closer to Belarus while taking advantage of the fact that the West is now putting pressure on Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, said the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist Sergey Kurginyan on August 23 on the air of the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on Russia One channel.
After the initial confusion, the Belarusian leader was able to get himself together and bring his supporters – citizens who voted for him in the presidential elections – to the streets, noted the political scientist. Kurginyan said that the political war in Belarus has entered a protracted stage, and explained what goal Russia should set now.
“What is our tactical goal in this war? Our goal is for Lukashenko to win it by political means without our direct intervention, ” assures the political scientist.
In the current situation, Russia should take advantage of the incompetent actions of the West which are pushing away Belarus, noted Kurginyan.
“What did the Polish prime minister say?: ‘What are you doing? You’re announcing sanctions! You are pushing him towards Russia!’ What should we say? ‘Well done, you are doing everything right.’ As for us, we have to open our fraternal embrace so widely, so delicately; I emphasize; so it does not look like ‘scraps of charity from the master’s table’, so that at the end of the day, at this strategic moment, we can come together for real,” emphasized Kurginyan
