Ukrainian military opens fire on DPR 17 times after Contact Group’s meeting

The Ukrainian army’s soldiers violated ceasefire on the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) 17 times over a day, representative of the republic in the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC) on July 23.

The report reads that the villages of Zaitsevo, Shirokaya Balka, Vasilyevka, Aleksandrovka, Kominternovo, 6/7, Gagarin Gorlovka, and Trudovskaya coal mines in Donetsk came under the Ukrainian army’s fire.

The Ukrainian military fired 131 rounds of ammunition on the villages, the enemy fired using 120mm for 48 min, 82mm mortars for 17 min, 50 rounds of ammunition from BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle main guns and SPG-9 16 grenades, caliber machine guns and small arms were also used.

The report reads that the Ukrainian military fired on the water pressure pipeline of the pumping station of the third water lift of the Seversky Donetsk–Donbass canal and damaged two lines of the pipeline. The U Kanal pumping station had to be stopped because of damages. The supply of drinking water to the Republic’s residents decreased by 50%.

Observers informed that the Ukrainian military damaged three residential buildings in Zaitsevo village. In Kominternovo village, two residential buildings were directly hit, and a fire started.

The report stressed that there were no victims among DPR residents and People’s Police servicemen.

On July 21, the JCCC observers registered four cases of ceasefire violation by the Ukrainian units. The military fired 23 different ammunition on the settlements of the republic.

At a meeting of the tripartite Contact Group in Minsk on July 22, the Ukrainian side agreed to sign new conditions for observation of the ceasefire, which will come into force at 0.00 a.m. on July 27.
