Lavrov condemns a ban preventing from seeking Russia’s assistance

28.05.2020, Moscow.

A ban preventing the Western countries to seek Russia’s humanitarian assistance is humiliating. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov wrote in an article for the Chinese Global Times newspaper on May 28.

Lavrov has responded to accusations against Russia that using humanitarian and medical assistance in other countries Russia allegedly pursues geopolitical goals. Moreover, according to the Foreign Minister, Western countries have received a ban preventing from seeking Russia’s assistance, which is humiliating.

The minister explained that the measures taken against the pandemic revealed a number of problems, which Lavrov described as “a lack of humanitarianism”. This is caused by “some countries’ and their ruling elites’ incurable egoism”.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that he did not find it correct to attribute such behavior to any kind of confusion. Lavrov pointed to a certain tendency according to which Western countries started to act according to “the law of the jungle” in the face of a global threat.

According to Lavrov, the coronavirus debunked an “end of history” concept and revealed the weakness of the hyper-liberal development.
