17.04.2020, Moscow.

Foreign ministers of Russia and Germany condemned the politicization of the epidemiological situation caused by the spread of coronavirus infection, Pars Today reports on April 17.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas discussed the current world situation, as well as the interaction between the two countries in regards to the issue of the coronavirus pandemic during a telephone call initiated by the German side.

Both sides expressed confidence that joint efforts by the entire world community are necessary in order to fight the pandemic. Taking into account such a position, Lavrov and Maas condemned the attempts to politicize the issue of the COVID-19 spread.

On April 15, US President Donald Trump announced that the US would no longer finance the World Health Organization (WHO). The US president explained his decision by saying that the organization did not warn the countries about the danger of coronavirus in time, and later did not adequately inform them about the infection. Trump’s “action” provoked disapproval of most countries, including EU and UN members.
