Kurginyan explains why hysteria around the coronavirus emerges

14.04.2020, Moscow.

The world today lives in a time of advertising, when any fear is business, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on April 12 on the air of the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on the Russia One channel.

Discussing the coronavirus pandemic, the political scientist explained that two extremes exist in the world today. One is denying the danger and turning to conspiracy theories. The other is exaggeration of the hysteria and fear. According to Kurginyan, such exaggeration of fear never took place before. “Did anyone in the Soviet Union know when the outbreak of black smallpox took place?” he noted. Could anyone say a word?”

He stressed that both extremes are dangerous. “It was terrible when Chernobyl was covered up! But escalation of fear is another extreme!” Kurginyan said that the information field formed by such hysteria begins to affect those who create it. “People want to watch something scary? We will make it even scarier. And then those who escalate it end up believing it,” the leader of Essence of Time concluded.
