Russian Foreign Ministry considers State Department’s attempt to forget name of Gagarin as sneaky trick

12.04.2020, Moscow.

The absence of the name of Yuri Gagarin in US State Department’s message about the first human space flight is disinformation and a sneaky trick, the Russian Foreign Ministry writes on April 12 on its official Facebook page.

Russian diplomats reminded their American counterparts that the first space flight had been operated by Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. To not mention this fact is disinformation and a sneaky trick of the post-truth era, as the Ministry wrote in its message with the attached photo of smiling Gagarin.

Earlier, the State Department posted on its Russian-language Facebook page a greeting card “International day of the first human space flight” with a picture of rocket flying upward. The attached message says “59 years ago the first human space flight took place”.

Russia celebrates the Cosmonautics Day on April 12. On this date in 1961, Soviet citizen and cosmonaut Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin became the first human in history to journey into outer space.
