Kurginyan: Reviving the Soviet heritage will make Russia the standard of the future

The revival of the Soviet heritage is a necessary factor for Russia to survive and acquire leadership, the leader of the Essence of Time social and political movement Sergey Kurginyan said on the Right to Know program on the TVC channel on March 28.

The human being in and of himself is an essential component to such a revival. The political scientist expressed confidence that the contemporary Russian citizen, despite 30 years of living in a consumerist society, remains essentially Soviet. This applies even to those who “have ten times over rhetorically condemned the Soviet past,” for example the Russian liberals.

In order to revive the inner Soviet social and cultural codes, “Man has to be re-Sovietized in terms of his values” and “organically” while avoiding copying the worst qualities of the Soviet system.

The second component of building the new system is a transition to “a moderate autarky,” which can be accomplished within several years, Kurginyan believes.

The third component is nationalization without crushing small and medium-sized business, which should even receive some preferences from the state.

The fourth component is a strict economy and social life, a return to the Semashko-Pirogov public health system, “to reserves for emergency situations, to a system that would be not the most flexible and comfortable, but it would be the most resilient.”

“If they [the Soviet values] now begin to be steadily revived thorugh a certain consensus of necessity, if these values are promoted, and a rigid economy for dealing with excess pressure is created, instead of a soft economy for minimal pressures, if reasonable nationalizations are implemented, and a turn towards reasonable autarky is made and so on, then Russia will set the standard for the future,” the Essence of Time leader believes.

To conclude, Kurginyan summarized his idea as “the Soviet heritage as a factor of the future, this is what I call it, in combination with all the rest, leaving aside all the worst things that used to take place.”
