Iran Health Ministry: COVID-19 epidemic retreats in 13 provinces

An outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic is declining in thirteen provinces of the country, said Iranian Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirci on March 29, according to IRNA.

According to the official, in small towns and villages with a total population of 32 million people only 5 cases of infection were recorded.

Harirchi said that the Iranian government intends to focus on keeping those small villages and towns contain the virus completely.

He stressed that reducing the outbreak means reducing the number of infection cases. At the same time, people who are potential carriers of coronavirus should continue to be quarantined.

According to the latest data, 12,391 people, of the total number of cases 38,309, were successfully cured. At the same time, 2640 people died.

During the past day 2901 cases of virus infection have been diagnosed, 123 people died from complications, another 3467 people are in critical condition.
