Mikhail Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia and ex-governor of Ukraine’s Odessa region, predicted a possible disintegration of Ukraine into five independent states during an interview to a TV channel 112 Ukraina on January 31.
Saakashvili condemned Kharkov mayor Gennady Kernes and Odessa mayor Gennady Trukhanov for setting up private armies and some framework in order to fall apart Ukraine.
The Georgian former president said that the Ukrainian political system can not be fixed only by elections. He believes that it is necessary to take drastic measures, while implicating the Prosecutor’s Office and anti-corruption institutions.
Saakashvili added that failing this adjustment the country will face not only corruption, but separatism. According to him, Ukraine will effectively fall apart in this case.
In 2014 the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office brought criminal charges, including ones for embezzling budget funds, against Mikhail Saakashvili.
