The Palestinian authorities will reject the US plan for Middle East conflict resolution, known as the “deal of the century”, if it violates international law, Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said on January 24, according to the Palestinian WAFA agency.
Rudeineh said, “If this deal is announced based on formulas that have already been rejected, the (Palestinian) authorities will announce a series of measures to protect our legal rights”.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump declared he would announce a plan to resolve the situation in the Middle East before his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, scheduled for January 28.
Note that the Palestinians demand that the borders between Palestine and Israel follow the lines that had existed before the Six-Day War in 1967. They also hope to create their own state on the West Bank and in the Gaza strip and to make East Jerusalem its capital. Israel has declared Jerusalem its eternal and indivisible capital and refuses to return to the 1967 borders.
