Syrian army advances in southeastern Idlib province

24.01.2020, Damascus.

The Syrian government’s army has entered the village of al-Samaka in the southeastern Idlib province on January 24 after encounters with armed terrorist groups, a source of the Rossa Primavera News Agency in Syria reports.

Reportedly, the Syrian Arab Army repulsed an attack of the militants and counter-attacked their positions in the settlements of Khan al-Sabil, Maardabsa, and Khas (southeastern Idlib province).

Terrorist groups associated with al-Qaeda (organization banned in Russia) control the most part of the Idlib province. The most influential of them are Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (organization banned in Russia) and Hurras al-Din (organization banned in Russia).

The terrorists occasionally make raids to attack the government forces, and they use artillery against military infrastructure and civilian homes.
