Donbass dreams of becoming a full-fledged Russian region, Chairman of the People’s Council of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Vladimir Bidevka said on January 18.
According to him, the people of Donbass – citizens of the DPR and of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) – confirm their choice, made in May 2014, to develop cooperation with Russia in every possible way. Vladimir Bidevka said that all these people dream of seeing the republics as a full-fledged region of the Russian Federation.
The DPR Chairman added that a complex international and geopolitical situation impedes this from happening. In order to realize the dream, it is necessary to make many efforts, particularly in developing the region’s economy. The aim is to contribute to the progress of the “Russian world”, not to be a freeloader.
Vladimir Bidevka thanked Russia for its humanitarian support provided to the DPR and LPR as it had not abandoned the republics during their hardest times.
On December 17, 2019, Leader of the DPR Denis Pushilin and Head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik stated during a briefing that the republics adhere strictly to rapprochement with Russia. Both parties stressed that cooperation with Russia does not contradict the Minsk agreements.
